Russian plywood production during 2017, fell by 2.7%
Russian plywood export fell by 0.3% in January-November 2017
Seven years after constant growth, Russian plywood production during 2017, fell by 2.7%, to 3.7 mln. m3 the Federal State Statistics Service announced.
December 2017 plywood production fell by 9.1% YoY (year-over-year) and increased by 11.6% compared to November 2017.

At a total of 2.258 million m³ of plywood, Russia exported about 0.3% less plywood in 11 months of 2017 compared to the same period of last year as reported by the Federal customs service of the Russian Federation. However, the total value came up by 15.9% to $1004 million.

Russian plywood export fell by 0.2% in January-October 2017
Russian plywood industry reduced their output in January-November of 2017 by 2% in comparison with 2016, to 3.4 million m3. November plywood production fell by 13.3% YoY (year-over-year) and by 15.4% to October 2017.
A squeeze on available logs is putting Russian plywood mills under pressure. Mills were unable to operate at full capacity. A shortage of logs for sale, and county roads condition, are responsible. The roads were "already poor" because of the fall weather. The fall 2017 has been extremely warm in Russia and it looks like this trend will continue...
Russian plywood production 2010-2016
At a total of 2.066 million m³ of plywood Russia exported about 0.2% less plywood in ten months of 2017 than in the same period of last year as reported by the Federal customs service of the Russian Federation. However, the total value came up by almost 16% to $914.5 million.
Where did Russian Federation export Plywood to in 2016
Russia’s plywood production increased by 3 percent from 3.65 million m3 in 2015 to 3.75 million metric m3 in 2016. The export share of production makes about 70% from total output. The main part of production is represented by birch plywood including film faced plywood. Softwood plywood production accounts less 3% of total production output.

Exports to Russia’s top 10 plywood markets represented 69 percent of Russia’s plywood export volume in YTD 2016 at 1 billion USD value. USA accounted for the largest share of Russia’s exports with 14.2 percent, followed by Turkey at 12.8 percent, Germany at 10.4 percent, Egypt at 7.1 percent, Latvia at 3.8 percent, and Italy at 3.7 percent.
Russia is the world’s fourth-largest plywood exporter. Russia’s exports represented about 7 percent of all plywood exported globally in 2016. The value of Russia’s 2016 plywood exports was less than a fifth of the value shipped by the world’s largest exporter, China. Russia exports plywood to more than 100 countries.
